ABOUT BOBBY

BOBBY ABATE (Brooklyn, NY) came of age immersed in Internet subcultures charged by alter egos, super-natural fantasies, and vice - dynamics that shape his darkly humorous works in film and video. Bobby’s work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim, The New York Film Festival, and the Institutes of Contemporary Art. Bobby’s first feature, CERTAIN WOMEN premiered as an official selection of the 2004 International Film Festival Rotterdam and won Best Feature at the Chicago Underground Film Festival. Bobby was a fellow at the 2006 Screenwriter’s Lab at the Binger Institute in Amsterdam for the 1969 period film MAGIC MINERALS based on the paradoxical writings of Carlson Wade, a nutrition expert terrified and obsessed with the exploding sexual revolution. Bobby is currently in pre-production for his second feature, DRESSED IN BLACK.
